Case LA Tractors

The Case LA is a classic tractor model from the 1940`s which is still beloved by agricultural equipment and history enthusiasts today. Its distinctive green and red design is instantly recognizable to those in the know with a passion for vintage farming machinery. The Case LA was designed to serve as a basic model for use in the Rice paddies of the South east United States.

It was also intended for some military applications as well. The first LA and LAI models featured Hesselman fuel injection systems along with standard Case spark-ignited engines which could operate using diesel fuel.

The technology for the Case La originated in Sweden and been lent for license to the Waukesha engine Company. The engine was no standard diesel model however, and it offered some unique advantages over other traditional diesels. For one it was able to start up much easier thanks to its lower compression.

The engine was also capable of burning any grade of fuel which was a convenient benefit when supplies were scarce. For over a decade, the Case LA was one of Case`s top selling models and enjoyed wide popularity around the country. A new sheet metal design, a more rounded grill, redesigned hood and fenders, and the Flambeau Red paint scheme also added to its attractiveness.

The Case Li version also features a 4 speed transmission which was an upgrade from the 3 speed of former models. Other popular optional features of the LA included PTO, an electric starting mechanism, lights, and advanced hydraulics.
